Announcing the KRWF 2017 Cambodian Emerging Writer’s Prize
This year KRWF is going digital and calling for Cambodian writers to send us 2000 words in English or Khmer or your voice recording (up to 5mins) telling us your story. What you choose to write or record is entirely up to you but entries that connect to this year’s festival theme “courage” will be favorable. Simply submit your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org before midday Oct 30.
The winner of the KRWF Emerging Writer’s prize will receive a travel package with return flights to Melbourne Australia valued at $1500 plus home-stay hosting courtesy of Cambodian Australian community sponsors. The travel prize is an opportunity for an emerging Cambodian writer to visit and experience Melbourne’s arts and literary culture sites, and receive mentorship through interaction with established writers and authors in Australia.
Open to Cambodian Nationals aged between 13 -25. Winner and runners up will be announced at the official opening on KRWF in Phnom Penh on Nov 1, with best 3 entries invited to present a reading of their story at this year’s Kampot Readers & Writers Festival and the best three entries being featured on our official website. Travel prize must be booked and used within November 6 2017 to October 30 2018.
Disclaimer: prize is pending visa approval for applicant’s travel to Australia.
