Lovatics across Cambodia are celebrating the announcement that American pop sensation Demi Lovato will be performing the final concert of her world tour in Phnom Penh on May 5.
Smart Axiata, in collaboration with Universal Music, have announced they will be organising the free event after the Demi Lovato Cambodia Fan Club Facebook group submitted more than 20,000 online petition requests to the local telecommunications company to bring her here.
“We are totally excited being able to bring such a world class artist like Demi to Cambodia. When having announced the partnership with Universal Music last year, we had promised to make such events happen in Cambodia, with this concert we deliver on our promise,” Thomas Hundt, CEO of Smart Axiata said. “For the Lovatics, the Demi Lovato fans here in Cambodia, a dream comes true.”
The 22-year-old got her start at fame appearing on children’s television show Barney & Friends at the tender age of 10. Now a platinum selling artist, she is known for hits including ‘Let it go,’ ‘Skyscraper’, ‘Heart Attack’ and her current single ‘Nightingale’.
Smart subscribers will have the opportunity to access a front of stage VIP area called the Green Zone, and can also win backstage tours or meet and greets with the star through Smart’s Artist of the Month promotion.
It was also announced their new Smart Brand Ambassador will be Cambodian-American songwriter and singer Laura Mam.
Smart has also launched the first unlimited mobile music streaming app in Cambodia, Smart Music App. Available only to Smart subscribers, the application can be downloaded for free from Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
