Faldo Series Come to Cambodia in June

The second Faldo Series Cambodia will be hosted at Angkor Golf Resort, Siem Reap from Jun. 28 to 30. The event is open for amateur golfers of all nationalities from the ages 12-21 years old, with the entry fee costing $60.

Last year Kim Dong Hyun of South Korea fired a final-round 67 to win the 2012 Faldo Series Cambodia Championship. He finished on five under par after two rounds on the Faldo Design course, one ahead of Thailand’s Nitithorn Thippong. The 16-year-old South Korean qualified for the seventh Asia Grand Final. Seng Van Seiha from Phnom Penh also received a special invitation to Mission Hills as the leading Cambodian.

The Faldo Series aims to create access to the sport for a younger audience through grass-roots initiatives at its tournaments.

“My main reason for starting the Faldo Series was to try and give something back to the game that has given me so much,” says Sir Nick Faldo.

A registered charity established in 1996, 38 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 28 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year. Past winners include Major champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.
