Gourmet Evening at Malis with Domaines Barons de Rothschild Pairing
Malis, one of the capital’s longest established names in haute cuisine, is hosting a evening in celebration of Royal Cambodian Cuisine. The five course menu is paired with wines from the vineyards of the Barons de Rothschild, one of the most renowned historic names in winemaking across the world.
The wine will be provided by Malis’ partner in this gastronomic venture, International Diversity Distribution (IDD), the exclusive importer and distributor of the Rothschild brand in the Kingdom. The evening will also provide a chance to learn more about these famous wines from special guest Mr Chris Thompson, the regional representative of Domaines Barons de Rothschild.
The evening will also be a debut for Malis’ latest signature dish of roast Kulen Black Pig. The dish highlights the rich, succulent flavours of this delicious, organic, sustainably produced pork. The farming of the Kulen Black Pig and production of its meat supports vulnerable families living on the Kulen Mountain Range. This is an area of historic symbolism for the Khmer Empire and its independence, this reinforcing the royal connections of the menu.
The menu promises variety and depth, showcasing local ingredients to create fine dining dishes fit for a monarch. The starter of Mekong lobster, and the prawn and papaya soup are paired with a Rimapere, Sauvignon Blanc, Baron Edmond de Rothschild, 2015, while the crab curry is married with a Los Vascos, Chardonnay, Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), 2015. The signature dish will feature a Le Dix de Los Vascos, Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), 2012 as its partner.
