Oktoberfest Cambodia To Quench Thirst in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh will be awash with beers from across the globe as the city gears up to host Oktoberfest Cambodia. And this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before as a variety of local and imported beer companies sign up to cater for the growing popularity of beer in the country.

Hosted by the German Business Group of Cambodia (ADW) and supported by EuroCham, Oktoberfest Cambodia is returning to its roots this year, with Hotel Cambodiana once again setting an idyllic stage. Additionally, due to its growing popularity, Oktoberfest Cambodia will also extend from two nights of festivities to three nights this year, and up 1400 visitors are expected to attend each night.

Oktoberfest Cambodia has become an established and anticipated annual event known as a must-do for locals, expats and visitors to the country’s capital. Highlights of the festival include a traditional five-member Bavarian band that is flown in from Germany for the event, a selection of hearty German cuisine, and of course chilled beer.

An invitation to all beer companies in the Kingdom to join the event has been extended to help create an atmosphere more akin to the annual event celebrated worldwide. The 16-day fair in Munich has provided festive fun for millions of visitors since 1850 and is widely known as the most famous German beer festival in the world. In Munich, it is traditional to invite the best Bavarian beers to showcase their brews at the event. In 2012, 6.4 million people attended the Munich festivities over 16 days and they consumed 6.9 million litres of beer.

The event takes place at Hotel Cambodiana, Sothearos Blvd, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, from 6pm to 11pm. Tickets are $18, which includes $8 food and beverage coupons. For more information visit, www.oktoberfest-cambodia.com
