Rugby Union Mini Tour in Phnom Penh
Rugby fans are in for a treat when the Battle of the Old Boys rugby union mini tour takes place in Phnom Penh.
Kampuchea Balopp is hosting the event on Saturday, May 17 at the Stadium National Defense in the capital. The event will see Kampuchea Barbarians, HKCC Aberdeen Angels and Saigon Geckos battle it out on the pitch to be crowned winner.
The social rugby tournament aims to help raise awareness about the sport as well as Kampuchea Balopp’s programme in Cambodia. The organisation provides access to sports and group activities to more than 00 children every week and aims to nurture more than 1,500 children by the end of the year in their social development and sports activities.
The visiting HKCC team is bringing kit and equipment with them to be used by Kampuchea Balopp and NGOs it works with. Games on the day will consist of two, 15 minute halves with a five minute break for half time.
The tournament takes place between 3pm and 6pm and entry is free. Food and refreshments will be provided at the field by ShowBox and Kati Perri’s Pizza.
The Kampuchea Barbarians is a rugby team formed in the spirit of having fun and diversity. The team for the Battle of the Old Boys event includes players based in Cambodia who originate from Fiji, Australia, Argentina, France, South Africa, New Zealand, USA and Cambodia.
