Skywings Asia connects Sihanoukville to Seoul

Visitors to Sihanoukville look set to soar after Skywings Asia Airlines launched seasonal flights linked up the beach destination with Seoul.

The airline’s maiden 180-seat flight landed at Preah Sihanouk International Airport on Jul. 29 with 142 passengers onboard.

The seasonal service runs from July until the end of August when it will be combined with Skywings’ current flights to Siem Reap.

Patrine Tay, Marketing and Sales Director at Cambodia Airports, said the additional flight is a “move in the right direction towards developing the Cambodian coastal city into a destination in its own right”.

She adds, “We firmly believe in the attraction of Sihanoukville and will continue to work with all stakeholders to fulfill its tourism potential.”

Mak Rady, CEO of Skywings Asia Airlines, says: “The first flights during this summer season are a way for us to test the market. We are considering having daily flights in the coming winter season 2014-2015.”

Passengers landing at Preah Sihanouk International Airport has seen a rise but numbers still remain low. From January to June 2014, the total number of passengers has increased by 146 percent to 20,400.
