Sofitel celebrates Fete de la Musique in Cambodia

Launched in France during the Summer Solstice of 1982, summer cheer transforms the streets of Paris into the world’s biggest performance stage as hundreds of musicians gather to celebrate the joy of music in all its varied styles. As a leading French hotelier, Sofitel plays an active role to promote and celebrate this major cultural event around the world.
From Paris and Washington to Colombia, Melbourne and Bangkok, over 120 Sofitel hotels from five continents will join together to rejoice with good music and « joie de vivre » on the longest day of summer.

Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort – Explore the history behind some of Cambodia’s ancient musical instruments through an exhibition at the hotel’s lobby tracing Khmer cultural history through images of the bas-reliefs from the temples of Angkor Wat. These forgotten musical instruments are given a new lease of life by Patrick Kersalé, a ethnomusicologist, who has reconstructed the musical instruments used during the ancient days of the Khmer Empire. Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra – Showcasing the links between traditional French elements and their Khmer counterparts, Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra presents “Bohemia”, a marketplace fair showcasing the best of French Bohemian and the old gipsy culture of Paris together with the traditional costumes and arts of Cambodia.
