Tantalising Thai Art Comes to Phnom Penh

A taste of Thai art lands in Phnom Penh in September when two artists bring their talents to the capital.

On Sept. 11, Samai Distillery will host the launch of the first exhibition, Age by Padungphon Rincom. Hailing from Bangkok, the established artist’s body of work explores the passage of time and the themes of the female role in the family.

The Thai art fest continues the following day when Tepui at Chinese House welcomes Aranya, an exhibition by Aranya Khunchawattichi. As a fellow Bangkok-born and based artist, Khunchawattichi work has wowed art-lovers across Asia.

This exhibition deals with the themes of childhood, growing up and adulthood. Khunchawattich says, “When in front of the mirror, I often see different faces hidden in myself. Especially childhood faces.”

Both exhibitions start at 6.30pm and special work will be on sale. Samai Distillery is at 9B, Street 830, on the corner of Sothearos Boulevard. Those visiting the exhibition will also be given the chance to have an exclusive look around the new venue. Chinese House is on Sisowath Quay.
