Bangkok Prep students achieve top IGCSE results
For the second consecutive year, Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School (Bangkok Prep) students have excelled again in their IGCSE Cambridge Examination series.
Hyunji You (Amy), above left, and Nikako Kanamoto (Nika), above right, were awarded ‘Top in the country’ and ‘Top in the World’ by Cambridge International Examinations for their performance in the June 2014 exams.
Fourteen-year-old Hyunji You from South Korea achieved Top in the Country in her IGCSE Mathematics examinations while Sixteen-year-old Thai/Japanese Nikako Kanamoto (Nika) achieved Top in The World in her IGCSE Art and Design examinations.
Ms Valerie Thomas-Peter, Head of Bangkok Prep, said, “These excellent results highlight the quality and calibre of the students at our school as well as the excellent teaching and learning that takes place here.”
Daryl Khong, Schools Development Manager at Cambridge International Examinations said it was extremely rewarding to congratulate Cambridge learners and teachers at Bangkok Prep who had worked so hard to achieve success in the examinations.
“The results are a reflection of the enormous talent in Thailand, not only amongst learners but also within the teaching profession,” he said.
The IGCSE (The International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds, and is taught in thousands of schools worldwide. Likewise, their A Level programmes, also known as The Advanced Level General Certificate of Education, are also very popular worldwide and are highly recognised and valued by universities and employers. Students at Bangkok Prep sit for both the IGCSE and A Levels examinations.
All graduating students at Bangkok Prep have been offered a place to the university of their choice and some of these include Boston University, USA; Florida Institute of Technology, USA; SOAS University of London, UK; University of the Arts London, St.Martins, UK; The Honk Kong Polytechnic Institute, HK; NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, USA; and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA.
