Leading global financial services firm, JP Morgan recently co-hosted the 16th UNESCO-APEID International Conference, The Heart of Education: Learning to Live Together, with UNESCO, in Bangkok. J.P. Morgan hosted a special session entitled, ‘Transforming Education, Building Communities through Strategic Collaborations: Public, Private and Social Sectors’.
Panelists emphasised their commitment to improving the quality of education in their countries with the understanding that there are severe consequences for society if there are high numbers of unskilled people and many people excluded from the workforce. Participants agreed that education is a key to improving people’s livelihoods and increasing their economic opportunities.
The 16th UNESCO-APEID International Conference was organised to share best practices from successful community alliances, frame current thinking on education in a changing world and to explore links between learning and social development. The conference drew more than 50 participants, including senior leaders of UNESCO, scholars, and practitioners.
