Discover Indian Coastal Cuisine with Renowned New York Chef and Author Hari Nayak at Indus Restaurant
Indus Contemporary Indian Restaurant is proud to partner with celebrated Indian Chef from NYC Hari Nayak, to host a pop-up dinner event in Bangkok featuring modern coastal Indian cuisine. The event will be held on December 8th and 9th in the award-winning restaurant and is designed to take food lovers through an epicurean journey along the Indian peninsula including the culinary rich regions of Konkan, Chettinad and the Malabar coast.
Speaking on the occasion, Chef Hari said, “There are a lot of similarities in ingredients and flavors with regional coastal cooking from the Indian Peninsula and Thai cooking. Indus Bangkok is the perfect destination to present this style of cooking. I am very excited to partner with Indus for this event.”
Internationally recognized as one of the pioneers of Modern Indian Cuisine, Chef Hari Nayak will present an exclusive menu inspired by his South Indian roots and global experience as a chef in New York.
Guests will enjoy a special eight-course meal that highlights some of Chef Hari’s signature preparations including Sol Khadi Pop, Neer Dosa Scampi Gassi, Idiyappam Masamam Biriyani, Uni Moilee and Coorgi Short Rib Appam.
During the evening that promises an exciting gastronomical adventure of hedonistic delight, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the inspiration behind the dishes by the celebrity chef himself who is also an author, restaurateur and world traveler. Additionally, Chef Hari will be signing copies of his cookbook ‘My Indian Kitchen’ for guests that feature delicious recipes and simple tips that allow any novice cook to succeed at unlocking the hidden magic of Indian cooking without any fuss or fear.
About Chef Hari
Hari started his journey as an international restaurateur, chef and author in WGSHA, Manipal graduating in 1994. He joined the highly esteemed ITC hotels as a Kitchen Executive Trainee before securing a place in the very prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA), New York. Thereafter, Hari continued to build his knowledge and skills under the guidance of world- renowned chefs – like Daniel Bolud, Marcus Samuelson and Albert Adria.
Today, Hari is the chef patron, culinary consultant and brand ambassador to various restaurants and organizations in the New York City area and beyond, is the culinary director of Cafe Spice- the largest Indian kitchen in North America and has his own brand of retail products in leading supermarkets.
Winner of several prestigious awards and recognition, Hari has forayed beyond America to make his mark in Asia and Middle East as a restaurant consultant and has helped numerous food service establishments, hotels and restaurants with significant culinary projects and events including the 12th World Gourmet Festival in Bangkok.
With six books to his name that have been equally well appreciated and received, Chef Hari is also internationally recognized as a cook book author of progressive Indian Cuisine.
Hari is globally known as a pioneer of modern Indian gastronomy and his vision is to bring Indian culture and cuisine to the forefront on the global culinary map. Coupled with his western cooking skills, his deep-rooted Indian traditions, perseverance and hard work- he aspires to provide Indian cuisine an international platform and the recognition of being one of the top three cuisines of the world.
Food connoisseurs of Bangkok will be able to enjoy a one of a kind coastal Indian dining experience at Indus Contemporary Indian Restaurant on December 8th and 9th from 19:00 onwards. The seats will be limited to 50 diners per evening.
The 9-course degustation menu is priced at THB 2,400++ and THB 3,000++ (including wine pairing by Global Vineyards) exclusive of tax and service charge per person.
