Sugar Ray Leonard to visit Thailand

Former world boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard is coming to Thailand for his first visit in April.

Leonard, who won world belts at five weights and was named boxer of the decade in the 1980s will be the celebrity ambassador at a string of charity events.

Organised by Pattaya-based events promoter Legacy of Legends, The Sugar Ray Leonard charitable event tour will benefit the Mechai Viravaidya Foundation.

“I am exited to be part of this charitable tour in Thailand, and to have the opportunity to visit the ‘Land of Smiles’ for the first time,” said the man often regarded as the greatest pugilist of all time.

His tour kicks off with a Charity Grand Gala Dinner at the Plaza Athenee Bangkok, Royal Meridien Hotel on Apr. 5, which is followed by a further charity gala dinner at the Centara Grand Mirage Hotel Pattaya the following day. Lenard will then be involved in two charity golf tournaments – first at the Riverdale Golf Course, Bangkok on Apr. 9 and then at the Burapha Golf Course, Pattaya on Apr. 10.

Tickets for gala dinners cost B3,600  and are available from Thai Ticket Major.
