Tuan Le, Creative Director at The Lab Saigon, 31

Tuan Le, Creative Director at The Lab Saigon, 31Q: What is your favourite craft beer currently on tap in Vietnam?
A: “The Jasmine IPA from Pasteur Street Brewing Company. I haven’t met a single person who’s tried it and doesn’t like it. It’s easy to pair with just about any food, but strong enough that I get a nice little buzz”.

Q: Which venue do you frequent the most to enjoy the Jasmine IPA?
A: I’m going to cheat and say, “it depends”. When I want a cheeky drink after work I go straight to the source at Pasteur Street’s taproom. When I want to chill with my friends on a Sunday afternoon I prefer Bunker Bed & Breakfast. If I’m having a big night out I start with the IPA at ANAN Saigon.

Wes Jackson, Marketing Consultant,Q: What is your favourite craft beer currently on tap in Vietnam?
A: My favorite craft beer on tap is Kurtz’s Insane IPA from Heart of Darkness. I believe this beer is the best representation of a “West Coast” IPA this city has to offer, and as a Southern California native, I can truly appreciate that. It tastes just as good, if not better, than the IPAs made back home.

Q: Which venue do you frequent the most to enjoy your favourite beer?
A: Although it’s showing up in more locations throughout Vietnam, I still prefer to drink Kurtz’s Insane IPA as close to the source as possible. So, that would be at the Heart of Darkness Bar & Restaurant at 31D Lý Tự Trọng in District 1.

Jason Kucherawy, Co-Owner at Saigon Craft Beer ToursQ: What is your favourite craft beer currently on tap in Vietnam?
A: My current favourite is the Vast Country New England IPA from Heart of Darkness. The New England IPA is trending right now in North America and for good reason, so I was thrilled to see Heart of Darkness crank out a beautiful one.

Q: Which venue do you frequent the most to enjoy your favourite beer?
A: I’d say my favourite spot to drink one is at the Heart of Darkness taproom. I’m a huge fan of their beers and the owners and staff are amazing people, many of which are friends. Their venue is always full of good vibes and they have begun to do live music now which is really exciting.

Allison Olivia Higi, Head Brewstress for Phat Rooster AlesQ: What is your favourite craft beer currently on tap in Vietnam?
A: My favorite beers are those that my friends make. Unexpectedly, this month Saigon lost Michael McMahon the head brewer for L.A.C Brewing. His mango IPA was my new favourite this month. It’s a robust, strong and full IPA with a nice mango lingering.  In conversation with Michael’s wife she said, “If you drank his beer, then you know him”.

Q: Which venue do you frequent the most to enjoy your favourite beer?
A: My favorite place is Biacraft on 1 Lê Ngô Cát. With 50 taps of brew, this is the place to drink craft beer in Saigon. I like to order flights and experience as many different and unique beers as possible.

Mike Pham, Professionally Unemployed, 28Q: What is your favourite craft beer currently on tap in Vietnam?
A: I just love IPAs so when Pasteur Street came out I was extremely happy. However, Pasteur just rolled out with the Watermelon beer which is my new favourite. It’s so refreshing that it’s perfect for the hot and humid weather of Saigon. Unfortunately, they don’t sell them outside of the taproom.

Q: Which venue do you frequent the most to enjoy your favourite beer?
A: Pasteur’s taproom is always the spot for me. The IPA goes extremely well with their Nashville hot chicken wings. Once in awhile, if I feel like a maniac I’ll go to Quan Ut Ut for some BBQ ribs and loads of IPA!
