Dunkin’ Donuts to open in Ho Chi Minh City

American doughnut company Dunkin’ Donuts will open its first store in Vietnam on Friday 22 Nov, according to a spokesman for the company. The coffee and baked goods shop will join the plethora of international fast food chains on Nguyen Duc Canh Street (on the corner of Nguyen Duc Canh and Ha Huy Tap streets) in Phu My Hung, District 7.

Dunkin’ Donuts is already a common sight in the United States and its parent company, Dunkin’ Brands (which also owns Baskin-Robbins ice cream), is making a push in Asia, with thousands of new outlets planned for China and more locations underway in Vietnam.

While it may not be good news for Vietnam’s growing obesity and diabetes problem, at least good doughnuts will finally be available in Ho Chi Minh City.
