East West Brewing broke onto the scene on Ly Tu Trong with its gorgeous space, as yet another addition to the local craft brew culture here in Saigon, and they’re trying something a bit different.
They hit the ground running and when I spoke with sales manager Steve Gutierrez and general manager Loc Truong, I was impressed with the host of new developments to the business that they were excited to be unveiling in the coming months.
“When we roll something out, we’re expecting it to work”, Truong says. “When we decide to do something, we’re going to follow it through, and the next few things we’re excited about are the beer garden, our barrel aging cellar and bottling system and brunch.”
Yes. You read all of those correctly. Not only does East West have a gorgeous rooftop beer garden that is decked out with plants and comfortable, relaxed seating, but they will be pouring barrel-aged brews and bottling their beer for off-site consumption in the near future. Rejoice all that long to sip an IPA from the comfort of your home.
What’s also exciting is their brunch. We all know that brunches in Ho Chi Minh City are known for being decadent and expensive, but East West Brewing looks to change the face of brunch in Saigon.
The buffet package includes free flow everything. Beer, beermosas (their fantastic rosé brew mixed with fruit juices), rosé brew, sparkling wine and bloody mary — all being served until they close up breakfast shop.
They’re sporting a cold bar packed with seafood, oysters, crab, prawns, and also a diverse salad bar serving various delectable greenery, cheeses, cold cuts and various healthy starts to your day that could hopefully help to counteract the constant stream of tasty beer and sparkling wine.
Everything hot can be ordered from the buffet menu, or a la carte priced separately.
It is glorious food. Huevos rancheros, a “craft beerito”, fried chicken banh mi, bo kho with soft-boiled egg, a phenomenal steak n’ eggs, buttermilk pancakes. and a slew of other options. Almost everything you can see in the buffet sections can be ordered separately.
They’ve hired a great DJ that sets the tone with some of the best nostalgic West Coast anthems that came out of the golden age of hip hop in the ‘90s.
With this gorgeous setting that the team has spent so much time on, and the quality of all the food and drink, one would think that this experience has to break the bank. You’d be wrong.
The price might even be the best part. You’re getting all of this for just VND750,000 per person. There is simply not a better brunch feast in the city for this price.
East West Brewing’s brunch runs every Sunday from 11am to 3pm.
