French-Vietnamese woman files lawsuit against 35 US companies
Seventy-two-year-old Tran To Nga, a French national of Vietnamese origin, has filed a lawsuit against 35 American chemical companies for the production of Agent Orange and other dioxins which were dropped over Vietnam during the 1960s and ’70s. Though similar cases have been tried in the United States over the past several decades, Nga is the sole plaintiff in this lawsuit. A former war correspondent for the Vietnam News Agency, Nga, her children and members of her extended family have all suffered complications brought on by these toxins, however she claims that this trial is not only for her sake. “I sue for millions of my people,” she says.
