German International School Rebrands to European International School
The German International School (GIS) announces that it has adopted the European International School (EIS) as its new registered brand name. It has also unveiled a new logo and adopted “Educating Global Citizens” as its ethos and slogan. The rebranding celebration was held at the Municipal Theater (Opera House) on Monday 17th Feb 2014.
Mr. Michael Osswald, EIS General Director says, “The rebranding consolidates the school’s vision and strategy. It reflects our heritage and the successful evolution of the school towards a truly international school with English as the main language of instruction and a diverse student and faculty body. We find the motto of the European Union – “united in diversity” inspiring for an international school and the fact that the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), whose curricula we will adopt, was founded in Switzerland has also played a role for choosing such a name.
We will continue to build a strong, sustainable future for the school, while placing the highest priority on the quality of education for our students and the needs of our parents. The rebranding does not impact the direction or operation of the school. EIS will continue to offer the German language and will strive to bring European values of education and diversity through quality teaching and education.”
Mr Ian Chambers, Director Asia – Pacific, IBO recently said during an IBO conference hosted by EIS: “On behalf of the IB I would like to congratulate EIS on the milestone of your new change and thank you for your commitment and support of the IB. EIS is currently the only school in HCMC in candidacy for all three IB programmes: PYP, MYP, DP. If successful, EIS will be the second school offering the full IB continuum in Vietnam.
I wish EIS all the best for its future growth and development and we look forward to a long and mutually enriching partnership.”
About the European International School
Established in 2009, the school relocated from Tan Binh District to Thao Dien, D2 in the year 2012. The curriculum is based on the internationally recognised Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IB) system for which EIS is a candidate school.
EIS currently operates classes from Toddler to Grade 9 and will add Grade 10 from the next school year and is scheduled to begin the IB Diploma Programme 2015.
With English being the main language of instruction, all students have the opportunity to learn two additional foreign languages from a language portfolio that currently includes German, Spanish, French and in the future Mandarin.
The school will continue to offer German language at mother tongue level (language A) and as foreign language (language B) and will, subject to demand, offer dual-language IB Diploma Programmes.
The campus is set in a lush, green environment and is designed as educational village. It currently comprises five buildings and this capacity will be doubled with six additional buildings and other facilities within the next two years.
EIS employs only qualified faculty staff and is proud to have teachers who attend to their responsibilities as educators with great care and passion.
The School is duly licensed by the relevant authorities, those being the Department of Planning and Investment (DPI) and the Department of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh City (DOET).
EIS is a member of the Nobel Education Network of schools and is associated with Educationsuisse.
