Guest chefs bring the taste of Shanghai to Saigon
To celebrate the coming of spring, Dynasty at New World Saigon Hotel is offering a host of special dishes during its “Shanghai Surprise” promotion from 21 to 30 March 2013.
For the first time ever, renowned chefs Jeffrey Fang and Stanley Lu from New World Shanghai Hotel will bring their signature Shanghainese specialties to Saigon, with a Shanghai menu available daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 6 to 10 p.m.
Among the recommended dishes are Braised Eel with Garlic and Dark Soy Sauce, Stewed Home-made Meat Balls in Sweet Soy Sauce and Glutinous Rice Balls in Sweet Fermented Rice Soup – all made with the freshest ingredients using traditional Shanghainese cooking methods.
On 23, 24 and 30 March 2013, guests can choose from a creative selection of delectable dim sum, noodles and buns at a Shanghai-themed version of Dynasty’s much-adored weekend Yum Cha buffet, served from the restaurant’s brand-new dim sum trolley.
According to chef Jeffrey Fang, Shanghainese cuisine is famous for its braised dishes and strong flavors. “Our dishes are very rich in taste, which goes back to the greater use of soy sauce, sugar, rice wine and rice vinegar. A special cooking method called ‘red cooking’ allows us to gently braise the food in a flavorful soy-sauce-based liquid, seasoned with sugar and spices, which imparts the final unique taste to each dish,” he explains.
The “Shanghai Surprise” promotion is priced from VND80,000 per dim sum set or VND650,000 per person for the special set menu. All prices exclude prevailing government tax and service charge.
