Hash House Harriers’ Annual Red Dress Run

Join Saigon’s Hash House Harriers on Sunday, 9 November for their annual Red Dress Run to raise money for Operation Smile Vietnam, an organization which performs cleft lip and palate operations for children in need. As part of worldwide hash tradition, all men, women, children – and even pets – MUST attend the run wearing a red dress in honour of Donna Rhinehart, the ‘First Lady in Red’, who showed up to a hash run in San Diego in 1987 wearing a red dress and heels. All proceeds from the run go to Operation Smile, and personal fundraising initiatives – such as asking colleagues to sponsor your dress-wearing habits – are also welcome.

Runners should meet outside the Caravelle, 19 Lam Son Square, D1 at 2pm, whence a bus will transport them to the countryside for the run before returning to the city around 7.30pm – 8pm. Run registration costs VND 220,000 for expats and VND 150,000 for Vietnamese. This includes transportation, free flow of water, soft drinks and beer as well as a small snack. Souvenir items and lucky draw tickets will also be available. All registration must be complete by Monday, 3 November. Visit the Saigon Hash House Harriers website to sign up.
