ISHCMC Class of 2014 exceeds expectations and world average IB score

International School Ho Chi Minh City, (ISHCMC) celebrates another year of academic success. The first and most established international school in the city offers the International Baccalaureate curriculum, (IB) to each student from early childhood to high school, allowing every student to participate in their IB Diploma and granting them acceptance to top universities worldwide.

The Graduating Class of 2014 equaled ISHCMC’s previous highest IB Diploma average score, a remarkable achievement considering that every student at ISHCMC participates in the IB Diploma as opposed to other international schools that offer an alternative programme.

Furthermore, a tremendous 71 percent of ISHCMC’s Class of 2014 achieved the additional accolade of their IB Bilingual Diploma, versus the 28.22 percent out of the 48,637 IB Diplomas that were granted in 2013. Twelve different nationalities were represented in the Class of 2014 and the proportion of IB Bilingual Diplomas reflects the true international learning environment gearing the graduates to be effective communicators in higher education and positively affecting university acceptances. ISHCMC’s 71 percent more than doubles the IB Diploma and IB Bilingual Diploma split of IB Diplomas granted in 2013.

“It’s truly delightful to witness the hard work of the students and teachers in achieving another set of fantastic results. The Class of 2014 graduates are now prepping for their university placements all over the world, with acceptances at Columbia University, University of Minnesota, University of Toronto, McGill University, University of Edinburgh, University of Melbourne, Seoul National University and University of Hong Kong to name a few. It’s genuinely inspiring to say that ISHCMC graduates are in great stead for their career paths ahead and equipped to handle their next education paths at universities, whether primary or secondary school, ISHCMC develops the whole child so they are problem solvers, open-minded, inquirers and risk-takers, these are essential life skills needed for day-to-day university life” says Headmaster of ISHCMC, Simon Leslie.
