Loud Minority Announce more great live shows in Saigon
After the success of its debut show with Frank Turner last month, the Saigon-based club night has announced more shows to follow at Cargo Bar, starting with Aussie synth-pop band, Cub Scouts on 31st May.
A week later, the night will play host to British indie-rock band, Little Barrie and Dengue Fever as co-headliners in June and critically-acclaimed Canadian rock duo, Japandroids in August.
Loud Minority’s first show in March saw over 300 people packed into what is possibly the best live music venue in the city to see one of the UK’s finest singer-songwriters in Frank Turner (currently vying for the no.1 spot in the UK album charts).
“It was a great night and I think everyone who was there felt like it was the start of something exciting” – Damian Kilroy
Promising to bring some of the best musical talent to Vietnam on a regular basis, Loud Minority also aims to develop the local scene by offering support slots to local bands playing original music rather than push the cover culture that is prevalent among Saigon’s live music scene.
“There are now some good passionate people doing things the right way here and looking to move things forward, which is great for the community.”
With a host of great acts and some surprise special guests in the pipeline, each night is sure to be packed full of quality content, ensuring the crowd gets the best value for money in town.
As with the first show, all nett profits from the Cub Scouts gig will be donated to local charities, The Green Bamboo Shelter for boys and The Little Rose Warm Shelter for girls.

CUB SCOUTS – currently touring the UK, these Aussie synth-pop protagonists were ‘unearthed’ by Triple J last year. They come to Saigon via Music Matters in Singapore and we’re looking forward to hosting them! Despite their youthful looks, they produce catchy sun-drenched pop gems as good as anyone else. Check them out here:
LITTLE BARRIE – the brainchild of one of the UK’s leading guitarists, Barrie Cadogan (Primal Scream). Having played with Morrissey, Edwyn Collins and Paul Weller, Barrie now divides his time equally between 2 bands, Little Barrie and Primal Scream. They arrive in Vietnam on the back of 2 shows with The Stone Roses in France, and will fly straight on to Tokyo for the legendary Hostess Weekender. Check out Free Salute:
JAPANDROIDS – 2012 was a huge year for Japandroids when they finally got the accolades they have long deserved. With Celebration Rock ranked No. 9 on Rolling Stone’s top albums of 2012 and No. 3 on Spin’s list, the Canadian rock duo have justified the hype with their euphoric live shows. They were recently voted one of the best acts at Coachella Festival. This just might be one of the greatest rock shows that Saigon has ever seen! Make sure you are there.
