PetroVietnam discovers potentially largest gas deposit in Vietnam

A gas reserve discovered by PetroVietnam (Vietnam Oil and Gas Group) about 80 kilometres from the coast of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai could be the largest gas deposit discovered in Vietnam, said Nguyen Xuan Son, chairman of PetroVietnam, on Wednesday. While it is still determining the scale of the reserve, the oil and gas behemoth expects to reserve and harvest gas from the deposit to the country’s energy plants in 2021. Company reports indicate that PetroVietnam has made five oil and gas discoveries and signed three new contracts so far this year, and its revenues in the first nine months topped VND 560.1 trillion.
