Protest by pizza

Last Friday, students of Saigon’s Hoa Sen University expressed their patriotism by crafting a six-square-metre pizza topped with a full map of Vietnam, including the Paracel and Spratly archipelagoes. Over 20 restaurant management students and several faculty members took part, decorating the enormous rectangular pie with chicken, shrimp, mushrooms and other toppings in response to recent events in the East Sea. “The pizza is indicative of our wish to join Vietnamese people’s protest against the illegal deployment of a giant oil rig by China in Vietnamese waters in the East Vietnam Sea early this month,” said Nguyen Dinh Long, who came up with the idea.
