Renaissance International School Saigon was recently accepted into the membership of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) after a membership visit conduct by representatives of the Federation in early November.
FOBISIA is a highly regarded federation of over 60 regional international schools and is renowned within Asia for its high professional standards, school focus and strong collaborative framework.
According to the Renaissance Head, Peter Gittins, membership of FOBISIA is an important milestone in the school’s development and brings with it enhanced professional development opportunities for faculty and offers Renaissance students a range of activity options both locally with other FOBISIA schools and internationally through participation in designated events.
In addition to its FOBISIA membership, Renaissance is the only Round Square member school in Vietnam having been a member of this global network since 2011. The core Round Square IDEALS – Democracy, Internationalism, Service, Adventure, Leadership and Environmentalism – are deeply embedded into the teaching and extra – curricular programmes at Renaissance and, when combined with the opportunities that membership of FOBISIA provides, offer a unique combination for the students.
‘Combined with our Round Square focus, Renaissance is now in an even stronger position to more than adequately cater to the personal and academic needs of its students in line with the key statements of its mission,’ Peter Gittins said.
When reflecting on Renaissance, Gittins said that the size of the school, the excellent facilities -which had recently been enhanced by the acquisition of a large sports field – a quality teaching staff and a wonderfully supportive Board were all integral parts of the school fabric and what made it so attractive to parents and students.
An equally important Renaissance characteristic were its established core values which were unifying factors across the school community. With its strong focus on family underpinned by a deep sense of respect and a commitment to personal and social excellence in a student centred teaching and learning environment, Renaissance is indeed one of the foremost international schools in Ho Chi Minh City.
This sentiment was echoed by Peter Gittins when asked of his vision for Renaissance. ‘Put simply,’ Gittins said, ‘we want to be the best medium sized international school in Vietnam and, in the process offer a quality international education to the community we serve.’
