Shutta Announce Exciting New Development

Shutta, the Hong Kong / Ho Chi Minh City based video app people, are pleased to announce an exciting new development for their business. Born as a photo-from-video app, Shutta quickly gained popularity and, through the in-app Photo Missions, the app soon developed into an important social channel for brands to leverage user generated content creation. Now comes Shutta Location Missions, a brand new, exciting development that expands the functionality and introduces new features to the app. This interactive new version will both entertain and excite their 2.5 million users, whilst providing their client base with one of the most elusive marketing KPIs: measurable online-to-offline ROI.

Shutta Location Missions contain treasure hunts, polls and quizzes, photo/video challenges, and mini games in which users can take part. This hugely increases the interactive side of Shutta. The Mission Map guides participants to the location of balloons as they move around the city. Popping a balloon, by completing the challenge within it, releases new digital swag – video effects and animations – or wins the user prizes and discounts from local companies and establishments.

From Shutta’s clients’ perspective this becomes a way of bringing people to their business in a manner that is both entertaining and, more importantly, measurable. For example, customers of a specific restaurant chain could win prizes by moving around the city, visiting their outlets to collect balloons. Users can also gain access to unique video effects that can only be unlocked whilst they are at the client’s business locations in HCMC. Some balloons will be time sensitive meaning that the new app can target events, like concerts, to help promote them. Shutta’s Location Missions offer almost unlimited promotional possibilities to their client base.

The new functionality is initially aimed solely at Ho Chi Minh City based users, with close to 300 balloons launched throughout the city at 3pm on February 28th. Platinum Premium Beers, Buddha Bar & Grill, and Tomatito Tapas Bar are amongst the first brands and establishments to engage their audience through Shutta Balloons, with more outlets lined up to come on board in the coming months. Plans are further afoot to shortly roll out Shutta Location Missions to the rest of the region.

Dutch managed, Spanish Tapas Bar Tomatito in Saigon’s District 1 is the perfect venue for the official launch of the new Shutta Location Missions. This trendy, new restaurant nicely brings together the countries that have been instrumental in the creation of the app. James Shimell, the original developer of Shutta, started the development of the app while he was working in Spain. His co-founder and CEO, Barbara Ximenez Bruidegom, is half Dutch, half Spanish, and both founders have worked in Vietnam since the app was first released to the app store, locating their app development team in a hip garden office in An Phú.
