Opened in Hanoi in 1901, the Hotel Metropole Hanoi has a long tradition as a luxury venue for prestigious events and a popular rendezvous for business and leisure travelers such as playwrights, ambassadors and heads of state. Receiving numerous international awards for its fine service, this legendary landmark has contributed to the richness of local heritage.
The hotel includes a total of 364 rooms. The historic Metropole wing has 106 guestrooms and three Legendary Suites, the suites are named after famous residents and visitors to the hotel (Graham Greene, Charlie Chaplin, Somerset Maugham with private garden) and have access to the Club lounge. The contemporary Opera Wing offers 236 guestrooms and 18 suites and one Grand Prestige Suite spanning 176 square meters. Each room in the Opera Wing has been individually furnished and decorated in a neoclassical style. The sixth and seventh floors, the Executive Floors, are home to the Grand Premium Rooms, six Prestige Suites, and the Grand Prestige Suite – with exclusive luxuries and services such as a personal butler, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails.
Restaurants & Bars
Le Beaulieu – over its 100 year history many celebraties have frequented this restaurant, including Graham Greene and Lucien Bodart. Directed today by head chef André Bosia and chef de cuisine Denis Groison, Le Beaulieu is especially known for its extravagant brunch, which is the Sunday morning rendezvous for Hanoi.
Spices Garden – with cutting edge décor and patio, meals at Spices Garden offer a gastronomic experience of Vietnamese cuisine. Serving specialties from the northern and southern regions, Spices Garden brings a unique quality to its fine cuisine to foreign and Vietnamese guests alike.
Angelina – Italian Restaurant and Lounge is the Metropole’s most recently added venue – and is the place to be in Hanoi for anyone who is looking to be wined and dined with creative and exceptional Italian cuisine. Colorful and attractive, the food is a reflection of the setting.
Le Club – The ambiance at Le Club varies with the time of day. An irresistible chocolate buffet is served between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. In the evenings guests listen to live jazz performances, sample exceptional grand crus, and sip classic cocktails.
Le Spa du Metropole – a pleasant 400-square meter space overlooking the charming garden courtyard and pool. Each massage area is private, allowing guests to meditate, recharge, and make the most of the spa experience. Le Spa has two therapy rooms, two themed spa suites for couples, three individual spa suites, one foot-massage room, steam bath, sauna, showers, a relaxation room, and reception.
SoFIT – luxury fitness center, exclusively reserved for hotel guests.
Metropole’s bomb shelter served to protect guests including famous visitors like Joan Baez and Jane Fonda from air raids during the American War (1964—1973). After the war the bunker was closed and sealed until a chance rediscovery by the hotel’s engineering department during the renovation of the Bamboo Bar in 2011. Reopened in May 2012 this space serves as a memorial to their courage and perseverance and to remember what should never be forgotten.
