The custom of mooncakes is dated back three thousand years ago, the time of China’s Zhou Dynasty. Mooncakes were elaborated as an offering to the Moon Goddess in the middle of the 8th month in the lunar calendar, when the Moon is at its maximum brightness for the entire year.
