Sofitel Saigon Plaza has welcomed back Sakal Phoeung, an award-winning French to take up position as the Executive Chef, again. Mr. Sakal, a French national, moved to Vietnam in 2000 as Executive Chef at Sofitel Plaza Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City where he supervised 75 staff and oversaw the conception of buffet and a la carte menus. In 2008, he transferred to Sofitel’s new flagship hotel in the Asia Pacific region, Sofitel Wanda Beijing in China. In his role as Executive Chef, he oversaw the creation of buffet and a la carte menus as well as supervising 100 staff.
“I am happy to return to Vietnam to continue serving my familiar guests at the hotel’s restaurants with our talented culinary team who has kept gourmands coming back year after year. I have a simple principle that goes for everything: Always strive for nothing less than perfection, regardless of the menu item. I believe that this philosophy makes my team both different and special”, shared Mr. Sakal.
