Sofitel Saigon Plaza welcomes Michelin Chef Richard Toix
Sofitel Saigon Plaza is extremely pleased to welcome Michelin Star Chef Richard Toix from 4 to 8 June 2013 for the pleasure of every gastronomy lover.
Born in Perpignan (South of France) on Valentine’s Day 14 of February, Richard Toix mentions that he always wanted to be a Chef. Graduated from hotel school, having worked for the “Freres Roux” in London (3 Michelin Stars restaurant) and in some of the most prestigious restaurants, Richard Toix considers himself as a self-taught chef. Despite going through different careers in his life, he eventually came back to his ultimate passion: cooking.
With his wife Laure, he opened his first restaurant “Le Champ de Foire” in Lencoitre in 1992, 30 minutes from Poitiers. They received few awards including the Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Red Guide, the oldest and best-known European hotel and restaurant reference guide, which awards the Michelin stars.
After 15 years of culinary experience, coupled with his great enthusiasm for French cuisine, Chef Richard opened a fine dining restaurant “Passions & Gourmandises” in the charming village of St. Benedict. He discovered a perfect place within 5 minutes from the center of Poitiers: a vast garden of 300 sqm surrounded by a river, and named it “Le Chalet de Venise”, meaning “The cottage in Venice”. In this lovely garden, Richard opened “Passions & Gourmandises” restaurant which reflects his signature culinary style: modern, purified and contemporary. Richard gets his inspiration from the local products, the seasons and from his traveling all around the world. If you need to remember one recipe, it will be this one: his interpretation of the oysters with shallots that bewitched the Michelin inspector and led the restaurant to receive its first Michelin Star in 2008, just nine months after opening. This is the biggest pride after the birth of two sons. Since then the star always shines in Poitiers.
Chef Richard’s love for the art of gastronomy indulges every palate with a discovery of various delights. Every day, his only wish is to create, to renew and to pursue his passion.
In the heart of Southeast Asia, spices, emotions, tastes and flavors will be combined in the most signature dishes created by this culinary star at L’Olivier Restaurant.
For this gastronomic week, Richard Toix’s talent will please all your senses with a selection of inspired dishes representing a cuisine of various countries and take you on a discovery of flavors.
