We have to have computers in today’s day and age. There’s no way around it. With this being the case, we need to be able to find reliable places to repair our machines, and sometimes, especially if you’re new to Vietnam, this can be scary and overwhelming. Fear not. We have provided the best list of places to shop for computers, accessories, and to get your gear repaired. Photos by Romain Garrigue.
This place is the number one spot to get all things repaired if you sport Mac products. They also do Windows laptop repairs as well, so don’t get all bent out of shape picking sides. The prices here at iKnow are known to be a little higher than other locations around town, but that comes with the territory when you are in Thao Dien.
Everytime we have gotten work done at iKnow the staff has been professional, helpful, and really easy to communicate with. If you’re having an issue with your laptop just head on into the shop and talk to someone patiently waiting at the front desk about what is wrong. The staff and owner are always attentive, and they know their stuff. Turn around is quick as well. We’ve had laptops stop working, brought them into iKnow, and had them returned the next day. It’s pretty impressive and pleasant Western-style service in a familiar feeling shop that we continue to return to for all repairs. They also sell a ton of refurbished computers and accessories.

If you’re a gamer, and you have a computer, you go to Halo. The funny thing is across the street from this shop is an older Vietnamese-style place that sells bootleg games. I know a few friends that used to go to that place regularly, until Halo Shop came around. This place is small but packed with everything one could possibly need to game all day every day.
Halo Shop carries MSi products, which is one of the industry-leading Windows gaming machine producers. They carry a full line of Apple products as well, but if you’re a gamer, you probably aren’t too concerned with a Macbook. The cool thing about Halo Shop besides the reasonable prices and fair amount of accessories like controllers and protective covers for your coveted products, is the amount of games they have. It’s pretty awesome to be able to go to a clean, organised store where they have real copies of all the most recent games. Halo Shop is where the gamers go, that’s for sure.

Phong Vu Computer
This place is like the not-so-big box store of computer supplies and repairs in Ho Chi Minh City. We remember having to get a couple things fixed and losing a charger for a laptop and having to walk into Phuong Vu to pantomime for everything. In fifteen minutes the staff had a guy on a motorbike rushing out to collect every item that they had out of stock in the store, and fourty-five minutes later we were on our way to lunch.
The staff here is top-notch. We continuously have superb experiences here at Phong Vu, even when there is a bit of language barrier. A handful of visits will certainly sell even the most skeptical patron. The staff here genuinely cares about getting you the product or service that you need. That goes such a long way to making customers trust the company and creating the drive for them to repeat their business. The prices here are also extremely affordable. The issue is you never really know what you’re going to get. There is a discrepancy in quality of products here, and if you don’t speak Vietnamese it could be a bit more of a chore to get the items that you’re looking for. With all that aside, there’s probably not a better place in town to get a repair for a Windows machine for the price.

Thanh Nhan Computer
Thanh Nhan is pretty big for a Saigonese store that exists in an old section of town. When you walk in the front door it becomes apparent quickly that there are a ton of products here, and Windows machines are definitely favoured. Although there are plenty of Apple pieces to check out. Fans, motherboards, graphics cards, you name it they stock it, or they can order it for you.
The staff here the handful of times we’ve been has been a bit hit or miss in the English department compared to some of the other stores on our list, but we’re in Vietnam, so that’s to be expected. The benefit here is the selection of products, and the prices. Basically, when shopping for stuff in Vietnam one should remember this rule of thumb: if you want better service and a great, engaging English staff you’re going to pay for it in the price of the items you’re buying. If you’re on a budget, and know what you’re looking for, a store like Computer Co. Thanh Nhan is a great place to check out.

This shop in District 3 carries all Apple products, all the time. They have been open for seven years now, making them one of the longest running speciality Mac shops in all of Ho Chi Minh City. The owners are fantastic people, and are always there to greet you as soon as you walk in the door.
They sell a wide variety of iPads, Macbooks, Macbook Pros, iMacs, iPhone accessories, MacGuards, and eveything is priced extremely reasonably. They woudn’t have been open for as long as they have if they weren’t doing something right. Another huge plus for Mac Saigon is that they are an authorized seller of Apple products. We all know that everyone and their mother sells Apple products at their little shops here in Saigon, but sometimes you don’t know quite what you’re getting. Luckily at Mac Saigon all of their products are guaranteed Apple, so you don’t have to worry that you got ripped off, or if your charger is going to explode and you will have to hurriedly read our guide on fire safety in Vietnam.
