US veteran launches campaign to help Agent Orange victim
A former US Marine who fought in Vietnam is on a fundraising mission to help a young victim of Agent Orange.
Reginald Carnes, 66, has launched a webpage called ‘Hands for Thuong’ in aid of Thuong, a girl who was born without hands. Carnes, aka Chu Rik, aims to raise $10,000 – it’s currently at $560 – which he will use to buy prosthetic hands for Thuong.
After arriving back in Vietnam in 2007 on a quest for “spiritual healing”, Carnes met Thuong and her family through charity work.
Carnes was also poisoned by Agent Orange, he says, causing his son to die at childbirth.

The work you and your cause is so wonderful and I’ll help in anyway I can. I’m spreading your message around to everyone i know now and have been praying for you and those babies.my best friend and i were talking this morning and like me she thought it only was one generation that had been effected by this.that was sad for them but to know it’s still is doing this now is sickening. What was our government thinking? Do we know for sure it hasn’t happened since Vietnam or do they still do this in wars with other countries under another name.? Please let me know everything you can find out about this killer stuff that names so many. I’ll inform others.
I’m informing everyone I know this sad and sickening thing happening to these poor babies.
